Volunteer Opportunities

If you love opera and are able to give of your time and energy volunteering is an excellent way you can show your support for Opera Ontario. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people who want to become involved with the company.

Office

There are many ways you can help in the office! They include assisting with large mailings, filing, distributing posters/flyers, photocopying and general office duties.

Special Events

A variety of special events are held each season to raise funds to support the opera. Volunteer help at these events is invaluable. Assistance is needed prior to the event as well as the day of to close auctions, distribute items, set up the venue and take down at the end of the day.

Production

We are always on the look out for Supernumeraries and volunteers to assist with makeup during a production. A supernumerary ("super" or "extra", for short) is a non-speaking (and non-singing) actor functioning in a minor supporting part. Operas often require supernumeraries as servants, soldiers, attendants, etc. If you choose to volunteer as a “super” you must attend all rehearsals and performances. Makeup volunteers are given a crash course in makeup application prior to the opera.
Opera Ontario Chorus
There are opportunities for people with trained singing voices to audition for parts in the productions.
